You might be wondering why you haven’t heard a whole lot from us about what we’ve been up to lately. Wonder no more! We can now reveal that we have been ensconced deep in our lab, tinkering away at the newest feature on this very website; The Underverse Communication Matrix.
For your enjoyment, a dedicated forum for all things Steampunk South of the Equator. Check it out at http://forum.neoapocalyptica.com.au and enjoy good company and conversation. It went live over the weekend, and the banter is already going at a good clip, so dive in and have fun!
While you’re there, be sure to thank Metzy, Aethervisual Mechanist and main creatrix of the forum, for all her hard work.
As many of the locals would be aware, Brisneylanders don’t have many options when it comes to retail stores and steampunk. We do have a few well loved crafters like Feybles who is now stocking her lovely wares in Thread ‘n Bone but clothes are an issue. Sure we can make them and many of us do, but for some the thought of sewing a frock coat or bustle skirt sends them into paroxysms of terror.
But something special has opened up in Fortitude Valley and that special something is Voodoo Lulu. Without a doubt, VL is the largest alternative clothing store in Brisbane and glad we are of it. While the shopfront has only recently opened, the sheer amount of stock they have in is massive. As well as selling their own designs of corsetry, skirts, one off pieces and a whole slew of other fantabulousness VL has just received a shipment of Tripp NYC stock and other brands for the men folk and in the not too distant furture will have a wide range of footwear gracing their shelves.
If that wasn’t all there will soon be an online shopping facility available for those not able to get into the store.
Where you can find them:

Just a few doors down from the train station exit onto Brunswick Street (Turn Left ;D)
It is well worth the effort of getting in there. The staff are lovely, the clothes and accesories are beautiful and the prices honestly have to be seen to be believed.
It is fast approaching our 1st Anniversary so the PB Crew is going deep into planning and implementation phase. Due to the grand nature of this task we have decided not to host an event in September. This way we can ensure November is truly spectacular and retain some semblance of sanity and make sure our Uni grades don’t bottom out. In the meantime we promise to keep you updated with exciting developments, amusing anecdotes, odd steamy comics and the like. Suggestions of what you would like to see in November are always welcome as we are an accommodating bunch.
So stay tuned leetle cogs and gears, it’s about to get wild.
PB Episode 4 was a difficult birth. But difficult births oft produce the sweeter reward.
It was a milestone of sorts for us. Fourth Club, first interstate act, first interstate attendees, first appearance of Sugar Pixie instigated karaoke and first attempt at running a club while both the organisers were attending full time uni.
All in all, with trials and tribulations aside, it was a success.
And a major part of that success is due to each and every one of you that sashayed over our threshold. Everyone that pimped the club, everyone that hauled friends in who had not yet attended, everyone that printed off flyers and distributed them in various places, linked our event, talked about PB to people and generated the mythical buzz which we wish we could be a fly on the wall to see. All of you did this and all of you make PB what it is.
Thank you to Matt and Lawrie from Studio-X for venturing forth from Adelaide and completely blowing people away. I daresay there were fans made that night and it is our hope that you both go far with the masses of talent that you possess. And we would love to have you back in Brisbane.
Thank you to the PB Crew – Adi, Metzy, Brendan, Jon, cAt, Charlie, Josh, Prenna and Chris. And by proxy our PR Sugar Pixies. We have no words to describe the utter win you are made of.
Thank you to the Hellfire Crew for showing that cyberpunk/fetish can indeed mingle freely with the steampunkers. We enjoyed the crossover and hope you and your patrons did as well.
To Metzy for trekking from Sydney for the night, beng our webmistress and designer of awesome and just being awesome in general. The awesome is barely contained. Barely.
To Charlie. Our complaints department. In conjunction with the security you keep the Brisbane Steamers safe and happy. Much love not only for the work you do but for you as well.
To Declan for your humour in the face of adversity, for your talent and just being you.
Joolie and Bam for giving us perspective when we’d lost it.
And finally to Gordon and the team from Club 320. There are not enough words in the English language to express how much love we have for yourselves and your beautiful venue.

The talents of Mehendi by Morphia will be on hand to issue physical graffiti and epidermal decoration.
We also have copies of the new Black Lung album Full Spectrum Dominance and the new Impurfekt album Human to give away.
Finally, keep a weather eye out for the swashbuckling return of Steampunk Pirate Radio this month. A Black zeppelin that’s crewed by redheads the damned is rumoured to be nearby and could be docking any day to raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer our their weasley Black guts out at a community radio station near you.
It’s currently 4.12AM and we’ve all returned to our various abodes, de-corseted, brassed and removed various bits and pieces from our hair and everywhere else. So we feel comfortable saying this now. What a fucking fantastic night.
This thank you list is in no particular order:
- Royg: You drove us around for half the day, cracked jokes, got pissed and bolstered our mile-a-second squishy brains. Thank you.

It’s quite nippy and there is a warm bed calling. Count down to PromBound Episode IV starts now. We go again in July.
